Applications for the Off the Track WA Event Sponsorship Now Open

Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is pleased to announce that applications for Off the Track WA (OTTWA) sponsorship is now open for equine events to be held from August 2021 and January 2022.

Any equine events held in regional or metropolitan Western Australia that promote the participation of off the track thoroughbreds and standardbreds are encouraged to apply.

OTTWA is offering 109 event sponsorships for the August to January period, representing a 43 per cent increase in sponsorship from the previous period.

RWWA’s Animal Welfare Manager Dr Anna Smet said OTTWA initiative promotes retired racehorses in their second careers as pleasure and performance horses.

“OTTWA event sponsorship is designed to encourage horse and rider combinations during their competitive careers and supports RWWA’s aim in providing ongoing support to racehorses once they leave the care of the racing industry,” Anna said.

“The clubs and organisations receiving event sponsorship play an important role in supporting riders and horses, and we look forward to seeing more of the achievements and experiences gained from OTTWA sponsored events.”

“RWWA is committed to supporting retired racehorses through all stages of their lives and OTTWA plays an integral role in supporting that.”

In the current period 49 sponsored events have run so far, attracting the participation of nearly 700 off the track horses, with a further 64 events yet to run for this sponsorship period.

There are three sponsorship levels – Gold, Silver and Bronze – dependent on the size of the event and number of off the track horses competing.
