Off the Track WA and Equestrian WA Program Announced

Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) is pleased to announce that it will continue its partnership with Equestrian Western Australia (EWA) for 2020/21, presenting a series of events across the State through its Off the Track WA program.

The partnership, which commenced in 2019, saw more than 370 individual horse and rider combinations take part in metropolitan and regional events held across 14 dates.

RWWA CEO Ian Edwards said he was thrilled to expand the partnership for 2020/21, providing further assistance to retired racehorses transitioning to equestrian and pleasure pursuits.

“We are pleased to offer an additional six dates for the coming year, allowing for an expanded program and more regional events,” Mr Edwards said.

“The partnership forms an important part in providing more opportunities for owners of retired racehorses to participate in clinics and events across various disciplines,” he said.

“RWWA is thrilled to be working with EWA to further our promotion of retired racehorses in their second career, and to expand on our educational offering to owners of retired racehorses.”

The 2020/21 series will focus on educating owners on retired racehorses, providing them access to coaches with level 1 and Level 2 EA coaches. Additional off-horse lectures will be offered throughout the year.

Clinics will be offered to all owners and riders of retired racehorses who hold a valid Off the Track WA Passport.

Entry fees will be subsidised by RWWA’s Off the Track WA program with prices capped at $30 per rider per day, with no EWA membership or EWA horse registration requirements.

The series will kick off at Zia Park Equestrian Centre and Horse Riding School, with a social ground work and trail ride day on December 10. For more information on the events being held visit wa.equestrian.org.au.
