Meet three devoted animal people volunteering in the racing community
It’s one thing to pop our spare change into a collection tin or donate to a favourite charity but quite another to volunteer our time and skills to help others.
Racing WA recently put The West Australian in contact with three inspirational people caring for animals and their communities.
Greyhounds as Pets WA volunteer Frank Howe has helped thousands of dogs adapt from life in racing to thrive in new homes.
“They’re placid, affectionate and well-behaved animals that bring such joy to a household. They adore being with their human families and are always eager to follow you around the house,” he said.
Collie Race Club treasurer Rosanne Pimm tackles the task of bringing the town’s popular annual race day to life and raising funds for local causes at the same time.
Greyhounds WA Board member Cheryl Isaacs is a foster carer and the force behind the Zoomie Land greyhound playground at the Cannington track.
“Once you have shared your life with a greyhound, there’s no turning back,” she said.
